The BRB story
BRB is the snack brand of Forbidden Foods, a Gurugram company founded in 2018 by Anuj Krishan and Tanmoy Mukherjee, both formerly of Bira 91, together with Apurva Anand and Abhishek Agarwal.
Its chips are popped with heat and pressure rather than fried or baked. The range now covers potato, rice and corn popped chips, NoNo's baked toasties and Shortcuts peanut-butter wafer bites.
BRB Popped Chips launched in January 2020 in Delhi NCR as the company's first product. At the time the chips were made in Germany, with potatoes from France, sweet potatoes from the US and seasonings from India, and the company said it was setting up its own popped-chips unit in India.
By early 2022 the brand said it was in over 2,000 retail stores across ten cities, including Delhi NCR, Hyderabad, Bangalore and Kolkata, and that it had sold over half a million packs of popped potato chips in 2021.
