The Sattviko story
Sattviko was started by Prasoon Gupta, who took up yoga at 25 and in 2013 began asking why yogic ideas were missing from the food industry. He later teamed up with Dhawal Phadke, a finance professional, and the pair built a range of plant-based foods that the brand calls FoodYoga.
The Delhi company began by running quick-service restaurants serving sattvik food, cooked without onion and garlic, and selling ayurvedic products online. It raised about ₹2 crore from angels in February 2016, and a further strategic round led by Helion Venture founder Ashish Gupta to expand abroad.
Today its own store mainly sells roasted makhana in small packs, in flavours such as peri peri, pink salt, mint and cream and onion, along with higher-protein makhana, gift boxes and combos. The peri peri pack lists makhana at 66% of the ingredients, roasted in rice bran oil with an added probiotic culture.
