The Slurrp Farm story
Slurrp Farm makes packaged foods for children and families and is owned by Wholsum Food. It was started by Meghana Narayan and Shauravi Malik, and the brand says it began as the concern of two mothers about what children were eating. Before starting it, Narayan led McKinsey's public health practice and Malik worked in finance at J.P. Morgan and the Virgin Group.
Its recipes are built around millets and other grains such as ragi, jowar, foxtail millet, oats and amaranth, with lentils, nuts, butter, fruit and vegetables, and jaggery or honey as sweeteners. The brand says using millets, which need about a third of the water rice does, is part of an aim to support small farmers.
The range covers pancake and dosa mixes, instant cereals for young children, millet noodles, cookies and fruit strips. In 2022 the company was reported to sell through its own website, Amazon, BigBasket, FirstCry and Swiggy Instamart, with a presence in India, the UAE, the US and the UK.
